Weekly Round-Up #12

I've had another wonderful week in the city, and finding it hard to believe I'm already past my half way point! Time is flying, but I miss home more as each day passes.

I had a great night out on Friday with my fellow interns at a bar downtown called Porchlight. We pecked at some appetizers (which were delicious), and sipped a few cocktails (equally yum). Despite the tequila shots, it ended up being a great night!
Saturday was a glorious day, so we decided to brunch in the sunshine at a place called Tartine. I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich which was seriously yummy, and we sat and enjoyed the views West Village has to offer. Possibly my favourite place in NYC! After that we walked into Greenwich Village and sat in Washington Square Park for a short while. I definitely prefer Bryant Park, but it was lovely nonetheless.
I'd been dying to see Dior & I since it launched on the 10th April, so we went to the Film Forum on Saturday evening. If you haven't heard about Dior & I, it's a documentary about when Raf Simons took over as head designer of Dior and had to design a collection in just eight weeks. For us fashion bunnies, it's a must see. The dresses are beautiful and it's also very interesting to see how Raf goes from designing for a very minimal brand like Jil Sander, to designing for a brand whose attention to detail is simply exquisite. We then went for a couple of drinks at a rooftop bar by the pier called Brass Monkey - a really fun night out!
Today was much more of a chilled day. We took the subway to Prospect Park in Brooklyn and basked in the sunshine for a short while, until it was time for more food. We walked to a small place on Franklin Avenue called Mayfield, where there happy hour includes $1 oysters. I didn't dare to try but after eating such delicious food, it's safe to say I need to go back and try them out! I walked home with a food baby! Highly recommend this place!
